About :
- The Mass Uprising Day is observed in Bangladesh on 24 January to mark the climax of the movement of the Bengali (Bangalee) people of the then East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) for autonomy in 1969 that eventually led to the Great liberation war of Bangladesh and emergence of independent Bangladesh in 1971. The uprising consisted of a series of mass demonstration and huge conflicts between Government forces and the demonstrators. In this conflict Government forces fired against the demonstrations and killed few.
- The 1969 mass upsurge is a very important part in the national history of Bangladesh. We achieved our long-awaited independence through the great Bangladesh Liberation War following the Language Movement, the charter of emancipation and independence of the Bengalis (Bangalees) six-point demand and the 1969 Mass Upsurge under the indomitable, undaunted, vigorous and brave leadership of Bangabandhu.
- The 1969 Mass Upsurge left behind an eternal legacy of perpetual inspiration to protest against exploitation and oppression. The legacy of the 1969 mass upsurge will live on forever.
