About :
- Born on August 2, 1918, Jashan Pahlajrai Vaswani, known as “Dada” to millions of admirers and devotees all over the world, was one of the most respected and revered spiritual leaders of India. Admired for his non-sectarian, non-dogmatic, humanitarian and compassionate attitude to people and the world, Dada Vaswani was a repository of practical wisdom, profoundly spiritual and deeply faithful.
- The magnetic personality of Dada Vaswani was attributed to traits of utter simplicity, genuine humility, profound wisdom, deep insight into men and matter, brilliant analytical mind and tremendous positive faith. He inherited the spiritual bend of mind his uncle and mentor, Sadhu Vaswani, a spiritual and intellectual giant of modern India.
- His Holiness, Dalai Lama described him as a living example of how the spirit and practice of our ancient traditions can be purely maintained, even amidst the changes and challenges of this modern age.
- A scientist by training, Dada Vaswani had a brilliant academic career. He topped his class in M.Sc. (Physics) at the renowned D J Sind College in Karachi, in undivided India. Though unrivalled opportunities awaited him as an academician and as an administrator, Dada chose the road less travelled, giving up all professional ambitions to follow in the footsteps of his Master, Sadhu Vaswani.
- He was a brilliant and powerful orator, who had addressed several distinguished international audiences from prestigious platforms such as the World Parliament of Religions, Global Forum for Spiritual Leaders and Parliamentarians, World Hindu Conferences, and Conferences on World Religions. Wherever he spoke – be it at the U.N. or the House of Commons, London, at Chicago, Oxford or Kyoto, Dada Vaswani had the amazing capacity to captivate and mesmerize his listeners with his fluent language, logical reasoning, profound ideas, practical wisdom and sense of humor.
- Dada Vaswani was also an excellent administrator. The Sadhu Vaswani Mission, which is today a world-renowned humanitarian service organization, owes its successful and smooth functioning entirely to his inspirational leadership.
- To many he was a saint. To his thousands of followers, he was the embodiment of love. Venerated as their guru and guide by innumerable devotees, Dada Vaswani himself preferred to be called a pilgrim in search of fellow pilgrims in quest of spiritual enlightenment.
- In April, 1998, Dada was given the prestigious U–Thant Peace Award for his dedication and service to the cause of world peace. In December 2012, the First World Parliament of Spirituality conferred its Lifetime Achievement Award on him.
- Dada’s humanitarian spirit transcended caste, color and religion. His life reflected the essence of Gita as well as the Sermon on the Mount. He taught to millions how to confront problems & challenges and gave us his vision of a world without wars.
- Dada had an exceptional literary talent. He had a natural gift for poetry and a lucid, narrative style of prose. He has written over two hundred books in English and Sindhi, which have been translated into over a dozen languages, ranging from profound philosophy to practical tips for everyday living. Thousands of his songs and verses filled with spiritual energy and lyrical power are compiled into the Angali Sangrah.
- Dada J P Vaswani’s birthday i.e. 2nd August, is celebrated as a Global Forgiveness Day. On this day, young and old alike, across continents, observe the moment of calm by forgiving all those who have wronged them and sending out vibrations of love to all. Forgiveness, he said, is the golden key to peace. It is bridge over which one can get to any human heart. He strongly believed that hearts at peace will create world peace.
- Life of Dada Vaswani was an embodiment of love and compassion. His reassuring presence blazed forth the comforting message of Gita: “All is well, all was well, all will ever be well both now and a hundred years hence.”
- Dada’s remarkable life of one hundred years ended on 12th July, 2018 in Pune where a beautiful shrine is being readied in his memory. The ever flame torch of his humanity and loving compassion continues to shine in the homes and hearts of million of people whose lives have been touched by the Mission.
