- Diplomatic relations between Nepal and Egypt was established on 16 July, 1957. Mutual trust and cordiality have always marked relations between Nepal and Egypt. Both countries are the founding members of the Non-Aligned Movement. Nepal appreciates the pioneer role played by Egypt for the promotion of the principles and ideals of the Non-Aligned Movement. At the United Nations and other International fora, Nepal and Egypt hold similar views on many regional and International issues. Nepal endorsed the Camp David Accords signed between Egypt and Israel in 1978, which ultimately led to the signing of the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel in 1979.
- The exchange of visits at various levels from both the countries has contributed significantly to bring the existing friendly relations between the two countries to a greater height. The year of 2007 marks the Golden Jubilee of Nepal–Egypt diplomatic relations. Various activities are being organized for celebrating this occasion at Kathmandu and Cairo throughout the year. This postage stamp has been brought out to commemorate this important event depicting the picture of Mt. Everest of Nepal and Pyramid of Egypt with National flags of both countries.
