- Pundit Udayananda Arjyal was born in Saptari district of Nepal in 1812 B.S. His father, Bisheswor was a teacher (guru) of King Bikram, who was the Sen Monarch of Chaudandi. Pt. Udayananda Arjyal used to write in different languages such as Sanskrit, Nepali, Maithili, Farsi, Urdu and Bhojpuri. He composed famous epic of Prithvindrodaya, which depicted the then social, economic and cultural aspects of Nepal. The other writings of Udayananda include the books like Someshwor Vijaybarnan, Navaratna Stotra, Duswopnaharan, Betal Pacchchisi etc. He was also a noted land surveyor. His contributions to border security, customs management, personal administration, justice and management of arms and ammunitions are notable.
