  • Composed of two panes, the picture is said to have been drawn in 1778-1783 by the painter in his later life. One pane depicts a kite perched on the tree in the rough weather and another pane two crows on the tree in the snow. The postage stamp adopts for its subject the picture of two crows. The snowy scene is finely represented in black and white, the leaden sky in thin ink leaving the heavy snowfall expressed offhand in blank.
  • Yosa Buson (1716-1783) was a haikai poet and painter in the Edo Period (1603-1867).
