- Bhimsen Thapa, born in 1775 A.D. was one of Nepal‘s great prime ministers. He reorganised the army, divided the country into administrative districts, set up judicial courts in different parts, and introduced many improvements in civil administration. During his premiership many important buildings, bridges and monuments were constructed. He was a wise statesman, far-sighted politician and competent administrator, who may be regarded as the pioneer of the modern era in Nepal.
