About :
- Since 1957, the Indian Posts and Telegraphs Department has been bringing out special postage stamps every year on November 14, to focus attention on the problems of Child Welfare. The stamps so issued carried the theme conveyed year after year by the International Union of Child Welfare, Geneva.
- This year’s Children’s Day Stamp likewise carries the theme as conveyed by the International Union of Child Welfare viz. “the rights of every child : the responsibility of every adult and community“. The stamp has a symbolic design and seeks to portray the idea behind this theme. Special emphasis is laid on the fact that the child of today will be the standard bearer of tomorrow. It is, therefore, the responsibility of every adult and the community at large to ensure that every opportunity is given to our children to develop into good citizens so that they can also offer their contribution to the progress of the nation.
