About : 

  • Poised at the threshold of 125 years of its existence, Hindu College, which was started with thirteen students and six teachers in 1899, has now grown into one of the most coveted higher education institutions in the country with more than 4,000 students and 200 teachers, offering undergraduate courses in 19 disciplines and post-graduate programmes in 14 disciplines in humanities, science, and commerce. Apart from these, the College also offers student exchange programmes, certificate and add-on courses in various disciplines-many of these initiatives are in collaboration with reputed foreign institutions and universities such as NUS, Singapore, King’s College London, York University, U.K. to name a few. Hindu College faculty are not only accomplished academicians and scholars but also dedicated researchers who are involved with several major research projects sponsored by government agencies such as DRDO, Asian Development Bank, SERB, ICSSR, etc.
  • Today Hindu College holds an exemplary position amongst the various educational institutions in our country. The college secures top rankings in India. Today College Rankings and is placed 2nd in NIRF, and it has also received an A+ Grade from NAAC in Cycle I.
  • The college offers several scholarships to young meritorious students from socially underprivileged sections to help them in their pursuit of a quality higher education. The college also provides hostel facilities to both its male and female students. It holds remedial classes for those students who need more than the regular lectures and tutorials to accomplish their learning goals. There is also a student-faculty mentoring system wherein a small group of students are allocated to a faculty mentor who advices them and counsels them about their curricular progress and career options and also ensures that the right help is always made available to them.
  • Today, Hindu College continues to take new strides into the future with a vision that combines the inherited legacy and an understanding of the challenges of the contemporary world. The College has made rapid strides in developing and upgrading its infrastructure in the last few years, thanks to self-financing mode and, generous contributions from philanthropists and alumni. The College has added a new Centre for Interdisciplinary Research, a state-of-the-art auditorium, a new academic block covering about 58,000 sq. ft. which includes science labs, lecture theatres, and seminar rooms, and a new amphitheatre named Utsav, built in the Romanic style, to its list of world-class facilities. Hindu College has been selected by the MoE to set up the Hindu Innovation Council, where student-teacher teams are working on new and innovative ideas that require support to be transformed into prototypes. This initiative is aimed at encouraging the local innovation ecosystem, and the setting up of the research centre will further facilitate the pursuit of research and development at the institutional level. The College is also building a new state-of-the-art library where students and faculty members will have access to world-class research infrastructure and access to lakhs of books and journals from all over the world.
