About :
- Hrishikesh, Ridi:-
- Ridi, a famous place of pilgrimage, is situated on the border of Palpa and Gulmi districts of Lumbini zone in western development region. It is a common belief that worshipping Lord Hrishikesh after a dip in holy confluence of Ridi and Kali river helps attain divinity and absolve from worldly sins and sorrows. A great fair is held every year on Haribodhini Ekadashi (awakening of Lord Vishnu on the eleventh day of bright fortnight in the month of October November) and Makar Sankranti (the first day of the month when the sun enters Capricornus). On this occasion thousands of pilgrims even from neighbouring country congregate here.
- In this present postage stamp the image of Lord Hrishikesh artistically made of black stone has been depicted.
- Tripura Sundari, Baitadi:-
- The famous temple of Goddess Tripura Sundari is situated on a beautiful hillock in Pujara village of Baitadi district in Mahakali zone. This goddess is also known as Rana Shaini Bhagavati. A great fair is held every year for nine days during Durga Puja festival and Eight day of dark fortnight in the month of Kartik i.e. October. On this occasion thousands of pilgrims even from India assemble here to worship and offer their prayer.
- In this stamp the beautiful picture of the artistic temple of the goddess has been featured.
- Langtang (Lirung):-
- This 7246 meter high snow-capped mountain falls in Langtang range blended with a unique beauty.
- A Joint Mountaineering Expedition of Tribhuvan University and Osaka City University of Japan had succeeded in scaling the summit in the spring of 1979. This peak visible from Kathmandu valley is very attractive and popular for the mountaineers.
