About :

  • The Bharat Scouts and Guides has played a pivotal role in shaping responsible citizens and promoting the values of good citizenship through non-formal education. Its comprehensive programme supports the physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual development of young people, preparing them to become active and constructive members of society.
  • In India, it began in 1909, and post-independence, efforts were made to unify various Scouts and Guides organisations. In 1950, under the guidance of the Government of India, several groups including the Boy Scouts of India. Hindustan Scouts Guides and Seva Samiti came together to form the Bharat Scouts and Guides, marking a new chapter in youth development.
  • Since then, it has played a vital role in shaping the lives of millions of young individuals across the country, instilling in them the values of leadership, character-building, community service, and national pride. The Bharat Scouts and Guides is recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India, as the apex body in the field of Scouting and Guiding in India.
  • As the Bharat Scouts and Guides celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2025, it reflects on its significant contributions to the development of young Indians. Over the years, the organisation has been instrumental in fostering individual growth and has made meaningful contributions to nation-building. Its mission continues to empower youth with the skills and values needed to navigate future challenges with confidence, resilience, and compassion.
