About :
- For the purpose of contributing to secure forest resources, conserve land and promote environmental afforestation, etc., the Campaign was inaugurated systematically in 1950 on a national level. Since then, this National Land Afforestation Campaign has been carried out every year, organizing various programs and events throughout the country such as National Tree Planting Day, the Green Feather Community Chest and school tree planting programs.
- The 35th National Tree Planting Day, central event of this campaign, is scheduled to be held in Forest of Natural education Makizono-cho, Aira-gun, Kagoshima-ken on May 20, 1984, in the presence of the Emperor and the Empress under the joint auspices of the National Afforestation Promotion Committee, Inc. and Kagoshima Prefecture. A number of Japanese citizens representing people from all walks of life are expected to participate in it.
