About :
- Tiger is the magnificent species of the largest of all the Asian big cats. Being at the top of the food chain, tiger is an indicator species of the healthy ecosystem in which they live and on which people depend. This charismatic species is getting closer to extinction. Since 1998, tigers have lost 40 percent of their habitat and today occupy only seven percent of the historic range. In just one century, the estimated tiger population in the wild has declined from 100,000 to as few as 3200 globally. There are only a little more than 155 wild adult tigers in Nepal. Poaching and illegal trade of their body parts are the largest immediate threats along with habitat loss.
