Issued for : In order to celebrate the International Customs Day 2016, Bangladesh Post has issued a commemorative stamp of Tk. 10 (ten) only and a first day cover of Tk. 10 (ten) only, a data card of Tk. 5 and a special canceller.

About : 

• It is 26 January 2016 today for International Customs Day. This day is being celebrated in Bangladesh with 179 other World Customs Organization (WCO) member countries across the world. The slogan of this year is “Digital Customs: Progressive Engagement”.
• WCO was established in 1952 first as the Customs Co-operation Council (CCC). On 26^th January, 1953, inaugural meeting was held at its Headquarter, Brussels, Belgium. For commemorating that date, International Customs Day has been observed since 2009.
• In Bangladesh the day has been celebrated since 2010 with utmost vigor and enthusiasm. The core message of this year’s slogan is to complete import-export and passenger’s formalities in shortest possible time by using digital technologies with engagement of stakeholders in order to facilitate legitimate trade and ensure collection of proper revenue.
• আজ ২৬ জানুয়ারি ২০১৬, আন্তর্জাতিক কাস্টমস দিবস। প্রতিবছরের ন্যায় এবারও বিশ্বের ১৭৯টি World Customs Organization (WCO) সদস্য দেশের সাথে বাংলাদেশেও একযোগে উদযাপিত হচ্ছে আন্তর্জাতিক কাস্টমস দিবস-২০১৬। ২০১৬ সালে এ দিবসটির প্রতিপাদ্য বিষয় হলো “Digital Customs: Progressive Engagement”।
• বিশ্বের শূল্ক প্রশাসনসমূহের উৎকর্ষসাধন এবং দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধির লক্ষ্যে ১৯৫২ সালে Customs Co-operative Council (CCC) গঠিত হয় যা পরবর্তীতে ১৯৯৪ সালে WCO হিসেবে পরিচিতি লাভ করে। ১৯৫৩ সালের ২৬ জানুয়ারিতে Customs Co-operative Council (CCC) এর উদ্বোধনী সভা ব্রাসেলসে সংস্থার সদর দপ্তরে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এর পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে WCO এর উদ্যোগে ২০০৯ সাল হতে বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন দেশে এ দিনটি আন্তর্জাতিক কাস্টমস দিবস হিসেবে উদযাপিত হয়ে আসছে।
• ২০১০ সাল হতে ব্যাপক উৎসাহ ও উদ্দীপনার মধ্য দিয়ে বাংলাদেশে আন্তর্জাতিক কাস্টমস দিবস উদযাপিত হয়ে আসছে। এ ধারাবাহিকতায় ২০১৬ সালেও দিবসটি উদযাপনের জন্য যথাযথ উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়। পণ্য চালান আমদানি-রপ্তানি এবং যাত্রীদের কাস্টমস সংক্রান্ত আনুষ্ঠানিকতা স্বল্পতম সময়ের মধ্যে ডিজিটাল পদ্ধতিতে সম্পন্নের মাধ্যমে সরকারের প্রাপ্য রাজস্ব আহরণ এবং সকল স্টেকহোল্ডারদের অংশগ্রহণে যথাযথ বাণিজ্য সহায়ক পরিবেশ সৃষ্টির প্রচেষ্টা এবছরের প্রতিপাদ্যের অন্তর্নিহিত তাৎপর্য।
