About : 

• In commemoration of the National Land Afforestation Campaign, a 60 yen postage stamp will be issued on May 21, 1983.
• For the purpose of contributing to secure forest resources, conserve land and promote environmental afforestation, etc., the Campaign was inaugurated systematically in 1950 on a national level. Since then, this National Land Afforestation Campaign has been carried out every year, organizing various programs and events throughout the country such as National Tree Planting Day, the Green Feather Community Chest and school tree planting programs.
• The 34^th National Tree Planting Day, central event of this campaign, is scheduled to be held in the Ishikawa Prefecture Forest Park at Tsubata–cho, Kahoku–gun, Ishikawa–ken on May 22, 1983, in the presence of the Emperor and the Empress under the joint auspices of the National Afforestation Promotion Committee, Inc. and Ishikawa Prefecture. A number of Japanese citizens representing people from all walks of life are expected to participate in it.
• The postage stamp depicts the Hakusan mountain range, a forest of ATE (hiba arborvitaes) which are the prefectural trees, and black lilies which are the prefectural flower.
