Surdas was a revered blind saint-poet of the Bhakti tradition whose devotional poetry in Brajbhasha, especially Sur Sagar, immortalised the divine life and childhood of Lord Krishna and enriched Hindi literature, featured as part of the Saint-Poets and Poets series of 1952 :
