About : 

  • On October 24, 1985 at the 40th anniversary of the United Nations, the General Assembly proclaimed 1986 as the International Year of Peace and called upon all peoples to join with the United Nations in resolute efforts to safeguard peace and future of humanity.
  • Keeping in line with the proposal of His Majesty King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev that Nepal be declared a Zone of Peace and also the commitment of Nepal for safeguarding and promoting international peace, she has been celebrating the Year with various programmes.
