- United Nations General Assembly has proclaimed the year 1987 as the International Year of Shelter for the Homeless. It aims at providing shelter and essential services for the homeless, poor and disadvantaged, particularly in the developing countries in the international field and raising their living condition on the basis of national priority. In order to execute the aforesaid objectives Nepal also has been operating various programmes in the international year for the amelioration of living condition of the homeless, poor and disadvantaged.
