About : 

  • A 20-yen postage stamp to commemorate the 32nd National Athletic Meeting to be held in Aomori Prefecture in October will be issued. The stamp bears a drawing of a bicycle racer as well as Mt. Iwaki and the Iwaki River in the prefecture.
  • The sports meeting is to be held in Aomori and seven other cities of Aomori Prefecture in North Japan for six day starting October 2.
  • The meeting is dubbed “Asunaro Kokutai” (Asunaro is a kind of Japanese cypress and Kokutai means the National Athletic Meeting); its slogan is “Be sound in mind and body“. About 17,000 athletes and their managers from all parts of the country will take part in track and field, volleyball, bicycle race and 24 other events (including two exhibition games and one demonstration game).
