Gauri Shanker (location: Rolwaling Himal) rising up to 23442 feet is one of the best known peaks in country. It has been connected with many Nepali folk songs, semi-pauranic legends and poems.
Situated in the heart of the city, Durbar Square the palace complex is the main attraction for tourists visiting Patan, which is also known as Lalitpore – literally meaning The Fine City.
Boudha Nath Stupa, the largest domed Buddhist temple stands a couple of miles outside Kathmandu. With its glittering golden tower, numerous prayer-wheels, brightly coloured sacred flags fluttering on ropes stretching on all sides from the top to the ground, the shrine is a place of immense interest to both Buddhist pilgrims and tourists.
