About :

  • Every year our country suffers a great deal of damage from disasters.
  • In order to lessen the damage and to prevent disasters before they happen, it is not only the agencies for the prevention of disasters, but also each person must fully understand the importance of being prepared against disasters.
  • It is especially necessary in Tokai where there are disasters caused by large scale earthquakes, tidal waves, typhoons, and torrential rain.
  • From this point of view, in order to heighten the people’s awareness of disaster prevention and deepen their understanding of it a “Fire Fighting Fair” is being held in Osaka on August 23 through the close operation of government, related public agencies, district public groups, and other related associations. Then, focussing mainly on the “Disaster Prevention Week” from August 30 to September 5 which includes an “Disaster Prevention Day“, on September 1, there will be lectures and exhibitions to spread disaster prevention awareness, and all over the country disaster prevention training will take place.
