About :
- S.L. “Class 9600” was the representative freight train steam locomotive of Japanese manufacture in the era of Taisho (1912-1926). The 784 locomotives of this class were produced during the period from 1913 to 1940. Diminutively called “Kyuroku” (96), it ran all over Japan except Shikoku Province.
- The engine weighed 60.35 tons and the tender 34.50 tons.
- S.L. C51 was called “18900 type” at the time of its debut. The locomotive of this class was manufactured to the number of 289 during the period from 1919 to 1928. Diminutively called “C goichi” (C51), it ran all over Japan tugging the passenger trains such as the limited express “Tsubame” (sparrow).
- The engine weighed 67.75 tons and the tender 44.20 tons.
