  • On November 1st, 1968 the United Nations General Assembly, by a record majority, elected Nepal to the U. N. Security Council for a two year term to fill the non-permanent Asian Seat. The Security Council, regarded as the custodian of international peace and security is the highest political organ of the world body. Admission to the council is an important land-mark in the development of Nepal‘s international stature under the leadership of His Majesty King Mahendra, the main architect of emerging modern Nepal.
